About California Barndominium Builders
We plan, supply and build barndominiums, pole barn homes and steel-frame shop houses on California land: the Sacramento Valley and the Sierra foothills, Redding and the North State, the San Joaquin Valley from Stockton to Bakersfield, the Bay Area and Wine Country, the Central Coast, Southern California and the High Desert.
What we do on a build
Check the parcel first
Who issues the building permit, what the zoning allows, where the water comes from and who approves the septic system. In California those answers change at every city limit and county line, so they come before any drawing.
Draw the plan
A floor plan and elevations drawn around how you want to live and how much of the building is shop. Where the building department wants sealed structural drawings, a California-licensed engineer (a third party) provides them.
Supply the kit
A steel or pole barn shell package sized to the loads your building department sets for your address, delivered to your land.
Build it
Pad, shell, dry-in and finish, through to move-in, or any part of that you would rather hand off than do yourself. Licensed trade contractors handle plumbing, electrical, HVAC and solar.

How we work
- We do not quote a price before we know the parcel. Cost figures on this site come from named third-party sources, and yours comes from your land and your plan.
- We do not put a figure on "California" that a county or city sets. Snow load, wind and frost depth are set for your site by the building official, and every figure on this site is attributed to the place that publishes it.
- The pictures on this site are illustrations of methods and sizes, labelled as such, not photographs of homes passed off as ours.
- There are no reviews on this site yet, because we will not publish ones we did not receive.
Every project starts the same way: a short survey about the land and what you want on it. We come back with what the parcel will take, which offices and rules apply, and a realistic budget, and that first answer costs nothing.
